Joseph Walker Artist

As a scientist with experience in applied biotechnology & chemistry, Joseph Walker has always been drawn to the fundamentals; the “first principles” of nature:

This curiosity manifested early as the study of snails and ants with a magnifying glass in the garden as a child and matured to creating fluorescent nanoparticles in the lab from biological materials as a working adult.

His search for the meaning of life is no more evident than in his artistic work, for which he has chosen the medium of photomicrography, i.e., photography using a microscope.

Joseph Walker is in essence a visual philosopher of biology; a noetic naturalist…As such, each exhibit carries a central narrative motif.

Carried through all his works is a sense of pontification and awe that continually harkens back to the origins of life and its diversity.

Joseph currently resides in Newmarket, England, with his wife Salomie, who is a poet.
